Let God In …
From Johanna … When thinking about psychic gifts, some people think of Spiritualism; The Fox Sisters, spirit knockings and seances. If you look at the word Spiritualist, it contains the word spiritual. That should mean something ’spiritual’ is happening. And in many Spiritualist churches today, gifts are used much differently than they were in the days of The Fox Sisters. In other places though it is a time when many people are getting so wrapped up in psychic development; card reading and other psychic tools that spiritual aspects often get lost in the shuffle.
Pursuing spiritual and/or psychic gifts is an environment that can attract the worst as well as the best. In other words, everything is energy and some energy is good and some is bad. That is why you should pray for protection at all times and be very aware of not only how you are using your gifts but who is being drawn to you because of your gifts. That includes not only those on the spiritual plane but others here on earth.
Noted healer Agnes Sanford wrote this about developing gifts, “Call on God, turn on the switch and let your gifts flow.” Sanford was talking about gifts that come from the God source. If you are using your gifts to tell others what to do, you are robbing them of their free will. You are robbing them of the lessons they need to experience in order to evolve. Is telling someone how to live their every moment working with negative forces rather than the God source? Think about it! And are you using and/or pursuing gifts because of some monetary gain? I hope whatever gifts you have, or whatever gifts you plan to pursue, you will be led to the God source and that you will use your gifts wisely.
I’m a person many would describe as having psychic and/or spiritual gifts. I work in spiritual healing and also have been gifted in ways that many would describe as being a ‘medium’. In prayer and/or meditation, Spirit does touch in. I believe these gifts come with a tremendous responsibility. Working in healing, I make no claims that I’m a healer. The God source is the healer if the healing is meant to be. And spiritual healing, to me, is also NOT a subsitute for traditional medical treatments. Have there been spiritual healings and/or miracles where people have been healed because of a spiritual healer? The answer is ‘yes’. But my response to that is God also made doctors and nurses for a reason. So please use your common sense when it comes to all of this!
A priest I know, often says, “God is above you. God is in front of you. God is beside you. God is behind you. God is beneath you.” To that, I say, “Let Him in.”
Let Him in to your worries, your guilt, and your feelings of emptiness. Let Him in to your foreclosures, your bad marriages or your loss of job. Let Him in to your relationships with others. Let Him in to help you love and forgive others and to love and forgive yourselves. Let Him in to find out if you’re truly on the right path and if you’re really ok. Let Him in to help you make better choices. And if you’ve opened some wrong doors, let Him in to help you straighten out the mess. As for your purpose for being, once you’ve let Him in, don’t be afraid to ask, “What do you want me to do with the gifts and talents you have given me?” Finally, as you walk life’s road, may your presence — your very essence — always be a special gift to others!
