Hi from Johanna/Joan . . . Thank you for visiting this site which was created as a place to explore and learn about religions, spiritual gifts and psychic concepts. Some information and practices found on the site I agree with and some I don’t. Some information you may agree with and some you may not. In the process of exploring this site I recommend you go with your inner instincts to determine what feels right. I also hope through the process of discovery that you are able to accept and love others regardless of their beliefs systems or where they may be on their own personal life’s journey. As for your journey: May your presence–your very essence–always be a special gift to others.

How my gifts work . . .

Hi from Johanna . . . I should begin by saying I don’t do what many describe as readings. However, I do receive messages which tend to pop in when I least expect them. And when received I endeavor to give those messages to the person who is supposed to have the information. When I receive a message it seems it is often for the purpose of healing a situation rather than being a forecaster of events to come. Example: I was in a pet store and a dog was whining. His owner, whom I did not know, was upset. She made a comment to the store owner about the dog’s behavior of late. I put my hand on her dog and found myself saying, “You are moving. Your dog is afraid of being abandoned. Take him to see your new home and he’ll be fine.” She confirmed she was moving. I receive lots of messages for complete strangers and often I never see the people again. Initially I was cautious about sharing. Almost always I now share. Information shared is usually followed by the person saying something along the lines of, “I can’t thank you enough. I’ve been praying and praying about this.” My response is usually along the lines of “Then give thanks to God and the Angels.” What is odd about my gift is I seldom receive any messages for me or my loved ones. I think I’m too close to the situation.
Dreams: I do receive messages in dreams. Some are a rehash of things we worry about. I pay close attention to dreams that are short and quick. Those usually are more prophetic in nature.
Healing Group: I work in a healing group where people come to be prayed for. In this setting I can struggle with my gift of receiving messages. The ministry is one of asking the person what they need prayer for. Those working as healers tend to pray out loud. I tend to go within and listen for a response. This isn’t always easy when talking or outward prayer takes place. We as people are some times placed in situations so we can learn from them; work around them and hopefully grow in the process. So this situation for me is definitely a work in progress.
Labels: Regardless of names used such as healers, mediums, psychics, intuitives, fortune tellers, clergy or spiritually gifted people, I can assure you few work the same. Some with gifts aren’t churched or don’t feel a need for God in their lives. Others find it difficult to function without a spiritual presence–a spiritual sense–being a part of their work. I’m not here to decide who is or isn’t on the right path. It is not my place to judge.
This Johanna– I believe my gifts are spiritually inspired. I believe in God and Guardian Angels. I also believe in ‘the other side’ where both good and bad are present. And so I advise anyone using ‘gifts’ to pray for protection and test the Spirit. Both of my parents died when I was a child. This situation appeared to be more difficult for my real Mother. I have tended to sense her my entire life. She has been with me through good times and bad times. She is especially with me in times of prayer and meditation. And so I suspect that is why I have a church–spiritual pull. Others in the work may not have these same beliefs. We should respect one-another regardless of differences.
Are you gifted? One area of advice I can share. I can’t stress enough to ask for protection. And in the use of your gift I hope you will never allow your ego to believe your gift–your talents–are solely your creation.

Hi from Johanna . . .
Several years ago, when I wasn’t as aware I had gifts, a priest came to me and asked, ” When coming to the communion rail could you please not kneel next to a certain parishioner?” The church member had some idea I read minds and it made him anxious. I obviously agreed but thought this odd. I can assure you I don’t read minds. Other people make statements like, “Well he or she should have known this or that as they are psychic.” To me this shows a person who lacks understanding. It doesn’t help either when one well-known psychic goes on TV and makes statements like, “Of course I knew that… I’m psychic.” I personally don’t read minds and I suspect most with intuitive/spiritual gifts also don’t read minds. I also suspect no one with gifts is tuned in 24/7 nor are they all-knowing at all times and about all issues. Some intuitives are obviously more developed than others. One can liken this to people with musical gifts. Some may play a musical instrument better than the next though both may be talented. Some may even come in to this world as prodigies. And so it is with those with spiritual or intuitive type gifts. Some are defintely more tuned in — more gifted. Regardless of the talent level I believe when you gain any knowledge of another’s space and circumstances comes responsibility.
When people come to me to be prayed for, or if I have given them a message, NOT TO WORRY. I don’t know all of your business nor do I care to know all of your business. I only need to know what the Angels want to share as part of a process of helping you. If I do share an experience with another it would be as a part of a learning experience — helping another in
the process of developing or understanding their own gift(s). Names are never used. Further I’m not here to focus on other’s failings or personal business. We each have our own issues to work on regardless of how gifted we may be. Too, people with gifts should not be snoopes or gossip mongers for lack of better words.
Two other key factors: The first is for those seeking help. If some one wants you to give them a bag of sugar for helping them I personally would question their gift. The other factor is for those trying to help. If in the process of helping another — praying for another — it becomes obvious their need is beyond what you can do then please STOP. Refer them to a member of the clergy, to a doctor, to a lawyer, to a tax person…whatever it is that you think they need. You may be part of an orchestra but you are NOT the director.

A few words from Johanna . . .
What do I want to say about touching in with Spirit? You can have a profound experience. You may even be blessed to have an envelope open from the other side. But it won’t be the same as being able to share a hug, laughter or share experiences with some one who is living and breathing. Our lives can be so busy– too busy– to even think about the ones closest to us. Do your best to take time to let those you love know they are special.
For you see…things can happen. Your loved one can ‘move on’ and the emptiness of the situation is there to be faced.

Happiness and Prosperity…

Johanna thoughts … Feeling hopeless can be a sign of not feeling connected. It can also come from a lack of prosperity, or what you perceive as a lack of prosperity. Read the words written by Wendy Rose and focus on happiness, prosperity and being loved and accepted.
From Wendy Rose (HOPI/MIWOK), “For every human being to feel connected, we must have the feeling of belonging. If for some reason while you were growing up, you did not develop the feeling of belonging, a search will be triggered and a restlessness will be present in your heart. You will feel a hole inside of you; something missing. Remember, we can get this feeling of belonging when we realize we do belong to the Great Spirit and that He really loves us.” My Creator…I belong to you. Let me feel your presence.”
“Let us eclipse the sun and the moon with our spiritual and emotional being,
and let us transcend these physical barriers and negativity which have made us a nation of one.
May the winds of time put into motion this feeling we share with our Mother Earth and this universe till the end of time. May the creator bestow upon us a grand sense of unity and peace which we will continue to pass on to our people, wherever they reside.”

Developing your gifts …

Johanna Note: There are many ways to begin spiritual development. For some the information found on this site may seem elementary. For others the information found on this site should prove helpful. Regardless of where you are in your development–your spiritual journey–always pray for protection.
Some tips often used in development work:
1. You have to be dedicated and willing to spend the time.
2. Try to spend 30 minutes per day in mediation/prayer. At the very least, 1 hour per week.
3. You must have quiet time. If you don’t have it at home, go to a park or some place where you can be quiet. Listen to the silence and focus on Spirit having a message for you.
4. There is a lot of help on the other side. Pray for guidance and always ask for protection from
negatives forces. Put a bubble of protection around you before you begin meditation.
5. You may not get any information. Don’t worry about it. Once Spirit realizes you are serious, the information will come through more often.
6. If you do receive a message(s) and it seems confusing, it could be the information is too far into the future for you to recognize. Keep a journal so you can monitor information. Also write down any dreams you receive. Date and time the information.
7. When you do get information, go with your first impression. Also listen to what your brain tends to tell you rather than your heart. And don’t over think what you receive.
8. A good support system from friends and family is a good thing. You may or may not have this. If you don’t, don’t get discouraged.
9. Don’t try to please everyone. You’ll never be able to please everyone.
10. As you use your gifts they tend to grow.
Finally, keep grounded. Say an affirmation each morning. Work to help others. Don’t give legal or medical advice. There are experts for this. And remember…Rome wasn’t built in a day!

People who have psychic abilities often wonder how to enhance those abilities. Some suggestions made by blogger Sophia Angell McCarthy are:
–First clear yourself and your surroundings from outside distractions.
–Pray for protection and visualize yourself surrounded by the white light.
–Try to center yourself and focus on your senses and pay attention to impressions. Angell says, “mediation and or prayer are good ways to center oneself.”
–Give credit to the Holy Spirit, or God, or a Higher Power.
–Let it flow.

What is the reason for my existence? …

Johanna Note: This meditation was written by Armand L. Archambeault. It is found is his book, “The Strange But True Story Of A Mystic.”
Armand asked, “What is the reason for my existence?” Spirit replied, “I am a lamp force, you are a lamp, which when unplugged is nothing. Life must flow from the source to the object. You are a flying fortress; you are an eagle in the wind; you are searching for your prey through your prayers, which are faster than sound; your prayers are powerful gems, like a stealth bomber or stealth fighter; to promote peace and harmony throughout your universe.
This is the obvious to the spiritually minded person, but for those not understanding, this means that Becoming One with the Father has to be initiated and actively continued on by us on a daily basis full time; we must be plugged in always if we want to stay in the Spirit.
Prayer, while In the Spirit, is like a mass of effective, heavy thought patterns flying in the wind and faster than sound. Prayers may seem as if they don’t work, but they are actually working in you and others; producing peace and harmony through love sent in a stealthy unseen way.”
